Boann Distillery to Release Whiskey Aged in 1,000-Year-Old Oak Casks
Next year, Boann Distillery, in partnership with Swainstown Farm and Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Cooperage, will introduce a new single pot still Irish whiskey. This whiskey will be aged in casks crafted from an ancient Irish oak tree, which succumbed to Storm Elin in December 2023 at Swainstown Farm in County Meath. After being processed in France, the tree was transformed into three casks by Kentucky Bourbon Barrel. The whiskey is distilled with Preston's Vintage Mashbill XI, comprising 40% malted barley, 36% unmalted barley, 17% oats, 5% wheat, and 2% rye.
