BNL and Artribune announce winners of 'Architetture Verso il Cielo' photo contest

The photography contest 'Architetture Verso il Cielo,' launched by BNL Gruppo BNP Paribas in collaboration with Artribune, concluded on April 5, 2017, with over 3,700 images submitted on Instagram. The theme explored contemporary architecture's relationship with its surroundings, particularly the sky. The initiative was inspired by authorial photographs of BNL's new headquarters in Rome and BNP Paribas Italia's in Milan, exhibited at MIA Photo Fair 2017, where the bank was main sponsor. BNL engaged Instagram users via its @bnl_cultura account, dedicated to artistic heritage and cultural initiatives. A jury comprising Anna Boccaccio (Director of Institutional Relations, BNL), Massimiliano Tonelli (Director of Artribune), and Angela Madesani (art historian and photography expert) selected the winning photographs. First prize went to Anna Rita Rapanà for her black-and-white shot of Santiago Calatrava's Medio Padana station in Reggio Emilia, titled 'In Motion.' Second place was awarded to Lino Russo for his 'Skymetric' series, developed since 2014 at the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples, emphasizing decontextualization and geometric minimalism. Third place went to Gianluca Pancaldi for a black-and-white photo taken in London's Docklands district on a rainy day, highlighting silhouetted balconies against a leaden sky. The winners were announced on Artribune's website.
