BnA Collective Opens Artist Hotel in Tokyo's Akihabara

architecture-design · 2026-05-04

In anticipation of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the BnA – Bed and Art Collective, in collaboration with real estate company Columbia Works, has opened its second Artist Hotel in Tokyo: BnA Studio Akihabara, following the earlier BnA hotel Koenji. The hotel offers five rooms, each designed by a different artist who developed an original thematic concept, handling interior design, furniture, textiles, and lighting in synergy with local craftsmen. Artists are compensated through a revenue-sharing system, where bookings directly support them. The collective selected "visionary artists embodying Tokyo's urban culture," including studioBOWL and Ryohei Murakami, who created rooms Wonder Park (202) and Atletic Park (201) as a "paradise for big kids" blending industrial design and pop art. Room 302, Hailer, features deities Raijin and Fujin by the 81 BASTARDS collective, offering a traditional Japanese atmosphere. The hotel maintains a micro-hospitality model for exclusivity.
