BMA Adds 118 Works, Including Major Caplan Gift

In the past six months, the Baltimore Museum of Art has made a big leap by adding about 118 new pieces to its collection through purchases, donations, and promises. This is one of the most significant updates the museum has seen in years. The collection now boasts various artworks, including paintings, sculptures, and textiles from artists all around the world. A standout donation came from Constance R. Caplan, the former board chair, who gave 64 pieces from well-known contemporary artists. Featured artists include Amy Sherald, Titus Kaphar, and Rina Banerjee. According to museum director Asma Naeem, these new acquisitions are geared toward enhancing diversity and fostering connections with donors while supporting Baltimore’s creative scene, including local talents like Louis Fratino and Jae Ko.
