Blur's limited edition zoetrope vinyl for 'The Ballad of Darren' sells out instantly

Blur, the iconic British Britpop band, has released a limited edition vinyl for their upcoming ninth studio album, 'The Ballad of Darren,' which sold out immediately upon release. The album, arriving eight years after 'The Magic Whip' (2015), is produced by James Ford, known for work with Depeche Mode, Kylie Minogue, and Gorillaz. The limited edition of 10,000 hand-numbered copies features a picture disc with a zoetrope animation, a pre-cinema optical device that creates moving images when spun on a turntable. The image on the disc is by photographer Martin Parr. The standard edition is set for release on July 21 under Parlophone. The album is named after Darren 'Smoggie' Evans, a longtime collaborator and Albarn's personal bodyguard. Blur, fronted by Damon Albarn (born London, 1968), defined the Britpop era in the early 1990s.
