Blue Motion: College Students and Dancers Respond to Picasso at V&A East
In early 2026, students from four London colleges—Big Creative Education, Leyton Sixth College, Monoux College, and New City College—participated in six workshops culminating in a performance titled Blue Motion at V&A East Storehouse. The performance responded to Le Train Bleu, a 1924 Ballets Russes front cloth based on Pablo Picasso's 1922 painting The Two Women Running on the Beach (The Race). The project was delivered in partnership with Studio Wayne McGregor and Art Explora, a non-profit founded in 2021. Artistic Director Odette Hughes wove movement pieces from all colleges into a single work. The collaboration aims to foster creativity, confidence, and cultural connection among young people, with the programme continuing for two more years at V&A East.
