Blue Green Works' 'Garden' collection debuts in Murano glass

publication · 2026-04-01

Lighting brand Blue Green Works, founded in 2020 by Peter B Staples and James McAvey, has launched its seventh collection, 'Garden', made in collaboration with a fourth-generation Murano glass fabricator. The project began after the fabricator discovered the studio through a magazine article and reached out. Staples' personal journey to Murano was marked by his mother's death; he postponed the trip to visit his father in the Gustav Stickley Craftsman home of his childhood, then spent seven months traveling between the US and Venice. The collection features seven one-of-a-kind pieces in clear glass arranged as delicate leaves and feathers, emphasizing vulnerability with visible edges and unconcealed construction. Staples, who previously worked at The Future Perfect and Apparatus, describes the glass as an expressive medium that allowed him to convey heartbreak. Each piece is handmade to order, not mass-produced.
