BlucinQue/NICE: New Production Center for Contemporary Circus Opens in Turin
In Turin, Italy, a new contemporary circus production hub named BlucinQue/NICE has been established, under the direction of Caterina Mochi Sismondi. This initiative has evolved from the Fondazione Cirko Vertigo, led by Paolo Verri and Paolo Stratta. The center is set to oversee two theater seasons, five festivals, and a company tour spanning fifteen regions in Italy and five countries: Germany, Greece, France, India, and Canada. In 2022, it will produce eight artistic projects and co-produce seven others. BlucinQue/NICE integrates circus arts with theater, dance, music, and film. Notable events include the Sul Filo del circo festival (July 1-9, 2022) and Nice Festivals in Settimo Torinese, Chieri, and Turin, with international partnerships in progress with cities in France and Montreal, as well as collaborations with artists Marigia Maggipinto and Michela Lucenti.
