Blu's new monumental mural 'Càpita' appears in Rome's Ponte Mammolo

artist · 2026-05-04

Anonymous street artist Blu has completed a new large-scale mural titled 'Càpita' in Rome's Ponte Mammolo district, along Via Ciciliano near Rebibbia. The work depicts a giant, colorful tangle of tubes and slides resembling a roller coaster or digestive tract, populated by identical gray figures caught in a chaotic, fate-driven journey. The mural satirizes social inequality, contrasting luxury and misery, and reflects on the randomness of destiny. Created in collaboration with the local committee Mammut, the piece continues Blu's history of community-driven urban art in the area, following two earlier murals from 2015 on Casal de' Pazzi buildings. Those works featured a surreal climbing plant and a concentric history of Earth. Mammut, a grassroots group, promotes urban art as a form of resistance and neighborhood revitalization, organizing sports, cultural events, and school projects. The mural was realized in 2019.
