Blindarte Spring Auctions 2018 Achieve Strong Results

Blindarte, the Neapolitan auction house with a Milan branch, concluded its spring 2018 auctions with notable success. On June 4 in Milan, the Modern and Contemporary Art auction saw a Warhol portrait of Princess Giovanna Pignatelli d'Aragona Cortés sell for €210,000. A 1983 Richard Hambleton painting, 'Opening,' estimated at €7,000–10,000, was bought by an American collector for €185,000, setting a world record for the artist at Blindarte. Other highlights included a Warhol 'Vesuvius' for over €38,000, a Dadamaino work for €58,000, a Giacomo Balla painting for nearly €30,000, and a Dorothea Tanning piece that sold for €52,000 against an estimate of €20,000–30,000. Works by Piero Dorazio, Walasse Ting, Antonio Scaccabarozzi, Richard Long, and Flavio Favelli also exceeded estimates. On May 16 in Naples, the Old Masters and 19th–20th Century Paintings auction achieved strong results: a pair of oils by Leonardo Coccorante sold for €81,000, a Francesco De Mura portrait of Prince Guglielmo Ruffo di Calabria reached €65,000, an unpublished Domenico Gargiulo (Micco Spadaro) canvas depicting Moses leading the Israelites went for €70,000, and a Luca Giordano 'Salomè' was acquired by a British buyer for €50,000.
