market-auction · 2026-05-05

Blindarte, the Neapolitan art network encompassing an auction house, gallery, conservation service, and art hotel, held its first auction in Milan on November 29, 2016. The sale took place at its new 600-square-meter, four-story venue in the Brera district, formerly the Museo Luciano Minguzzi, which opened in May 2016. The auction featured modern and contemporary art and design, coinciding with Adam Cvijanovic's inaugural solo exhibition at the space. Leading lots included Paolo Scheggi's "Intersuperficie curva nera" (1967, acrylic on three superimposed canvases, 70×140 cm, estimate €600,000–800,000), John Baldessari's "Elbow series: Emu" (1999, triptych, 214×214 cm, estimate €100,000–150,000), and Daniel Buren's "Riflesso: une peinture en cinq parties pour deux murs" (1980, five oils on canvas, estimate on request). Other Italian artists featured were Mario Schifano ("Acerbo," 1983, estimate €40,000–60,000), Turi Simeti ("Cinque ovali color sabbia," 2008, estimate €35,000–45,000), and Alfredo Chighine ("Serchio," estimate €18,000–22,000). Asian works included Toshimitsu Imai's "Rouge" (1962, estimate €60,000–80,000) and a work by Hsiao Chin (1969, estimate €50,000–70,000). The design section featured Gio Ponti's "Cabinet a parete" (1954, estimate €20,000–30,000) and "Ninfea" set of six folding chairs (1958, estimate €4,500–6,500), Ettore Sottsass's "Freemont Cabinet" (estimate €5,500–7,500), and Ercole Barovier's "Rotellati" vase (estimate €6,000–8,000).
