Blank Studio's Wayfinding System for Mediateka Tychy Blends Safety with Minimalist Geometry

Blank Studio has created an extensive wayfinding system for the Mediateka library located in Tychy, Poland, tackling the challenge posed by more than 4,500 square meters of glass surfaces. This system features an irregular linear design directly applied to the glass walls, acting as both a safety measure to avert pedestrian accidents and a graphical framework for navigation throughout the space. The library, spanning 2,744 square meters, showcases large room numbers and bespoke pictograms as forms of environmental art, with numerals designed in striking sizes for easy orientation. The use of the Sofia Pro Black typeface, a geometric neo-grotesque, enhances the minimalist look with bold strokes against the transparent glass. This project exemplifies how budget constraints and safety considerations can inspire sophisticated environmental designs, using affordable materials and a cohesive design approach. The resulting system serves as a model for contemporary institutional settings.
