Black Mirror: The Long Shadow of the Future at Ludwig Museum Budapest

The Ludwig Museum of Contemporary Art in Budapest presents "BLACK MIRROR. The Long Shadow of the Future," an exhibition running until October 18, 2026, featuring 90 works by artists from Central and Eastern Europe. Curated by Borbála Kálmán and József Készman, the show is divided into five sections: "The Sadness of Completed Stories," "Personal Worlds," "The End of Ideologies," "No Future!," and "Metropolis." Highlights include Sai Oleksiy's "Mildew" (2018) critiquing Ukrainian white-collar workers, Orshi Drozdik's "Adventure in Technos Dystopium" (1983–1993) challenging patriarchal science, Kristof Kintera's technological waste sculptures, and Gentian Shkurti's video "Alice in Wonderland" (1997) about Albania's post-communist collapse. Other artists include István B. Gellér, Szalai Tibor, Kisspal Szabolcs, Yevgen Nikiforov, the Blue Noses duo (Vyacheslav Mizin and Alexander Shaburov), Ivarnai Gyula, Peter Weibel, Eva Kotatkova, and Ciprian Muresan. The exhibition draws inspiration from Charlie Brooker's series "Black Mirror" and explores dystopian themes through magical and divinatory practices linked to the black mirror myth.
