Bisi Silva Appointed Artistic Director for 10th Bamako Encounters Photography Biennale

Bisi Silva, an independent curator and founding director of Lagos's Centre for Contemporary Art, will serve as Artistic Director for the 10th Bamako Encounters. This African Biennale of Photography, titled 'Telling Time', is scheduled to run from 31 October to 31 December 2015. The event is produced and organized by Mali's Ministry of Culture and the Institut Français, with Samuel Sidibé, director of the National Museum of Mali, overseeing the biennale. Applications for lens-based practitioners from Africa and the Diaspora are being accepted until 30 March 2015. The biennale functions as an international platform dedicated to African photography and lens-based media, aiming to promote and critique these practices from both local and international perspectives.
