Biopigs: Sophie Perez and Xavier Boussiron's Burlesque Deconstruction of Biopics
In the December 2015 issue of artpress (n°428, pp. 8-10), Sophie Perez and Xavier Boussiron of the Zerep company present "Biopigs," a contraction of "biopic" and "pig." The work is described as a bouffon comedy, happening, and hilarious farce that deconstructs and reconstructs the romantic and cruel aspects of biopics through burlesque. It recalls carnival's inversion of values and staging of mockery. The piece was published in artpress, a French contemporary art magazine.
