BioFluff's Plant-Based Fur Savian Debuts at Milan Design Week 2026

architecture-design · 2026-05-20

Founded in 2021 and nurtured at LVMH's La Maison des Startups in Paris, BioFluff has introduced Savian, a fully plant-based fur crafted from flax, nettle, and hemp sourced from European farmers. This innovative material undergoes an enzymatic process that maintains the fiber structure, providing a volume and feel akin to real animal fur. Savian boasts a carbon footprint that is 75% less than that of plastic faux fur and 95% lower than traditional animal fur; it is also compostable within 12 weeks, biodegradable over several years, and recyclable. Available in styles ranging from 0.2 cm to 8 cm and dyed with water-based colors, Savian will debut with Stella McCartney in Pre-Fall 2024 and will be showcased at Milan Design Week 2026 as a luxurious alternative to animal fur.
