Binario18 Festival Merges Graphic Arts and Digital Tech in Rome

festival-fair · 2026-05-04

Binario18, a three-day festival blending graphic arts, traditional media, and new technologies, will take place from April 20 to 22 at Officine Farneto in Rome. Organized by marketing agency Apload, Officine Farneto, and LUISS Business School, the festival draws its name from binary code, symbolizing the digital revolution in communication and arts. It features exhibitions by over 30 artists in illustration, photography, and street art, including Fernando Cobelo, Ale Giorgini, Elia Colombo, Mauro Gatti, Davide Scarpantonio, Dario Campagna, Sara Paglia, Emanuel Simeoni, the Van Orton brothers, and Luca Barcellona. Highlights include an original concert by Boosta with a live performance by Luca Barcellona on Sunday at 9:30 PM, site-specific works by Roman artist Maupal, workshops on surface pattern design and professional comic scripting, and talks by The Pills on Friday at 6:00 PM and photographer Ilaria Magliocchetti Lombi on Sunday at 12:00 PM. The festival occupies eight exhibition areas within Officine Farneto, a 1,100-square-meter post-industrial space in Monte Mario park. Andrea Palma, co-producer and Apload co-founder, describes it as a starting point for LUISS Event Management students and a destination for artists, aiming to become a fixed event in Italy's creative scene. Claudio Compagnucci, General Manager of Officine Farneto, notes the venue's enthusiasm for hosting contemporary art.
