Binari d'estate: 4 historic train routes through Sicilian Baroque and archaeology

The Sicilian Regional Department of Tourism, Sport and Entertainment, together with the Fondazione Ferrovie dello Stato, launches Binari d'estate, a slow-travel initiative offering four themed historic train itineraries on August 31 and September 1. Departures are from Siracusa, Agrigento, Palermo, and Trapani. The Treno dei Templi (Aug 31, from Agrigento) visits the Valley of the Temples, the Giardino della Kolymbethra (managed by FAI), and the Archaeological Park of Agrigento, with an aperitif at Tempio Vulcano. Tickets: €8 adults, €4 children. The Treno del Barocco (Sep 1, from Siracusa) stops at Ispica for a historic center excursion, then Ragusa for a Slow Food taste lab and guided tours. Tickets: €20 adults, €10 children. The Treno della frutta e conserve d'autunno nei Monti Sicani (Sep 1, from Palermo) passes through Bagheria, Termini Imerese, Roccapalumba/Alia, and Cammarata, with a bus to the Castello di Mussomeli for a traditional fair and lentil tastings. Tickets: €20 adults, €10 children. The Treno dei sapori del sale e del mare (Sep 1, from Trapani) goes to Marsala, then by boat to Mozia island, with Slow Food tastings.
