BiM Cultural Hub in Milan's Bicocca District Launches Contemporary Art Program with Specific Platform

exhibition · 2026-03-21

A historic office complex in Milan's Bicocca area, originally designed by architect Vittorio Gregotti in the 1980s, is being transformed into a cultural hub called BiM (Bicocca meets Milan). This initiative aims to convert the entire zone into an urban district focused on social interaction, sustainability, and contemporary culture by 2026, featuring workspaces, gardens, meeting areas, and year-round programming. Within this context, the interdisciplinary cultural platform Specific was established at BiM in 2023 by artists Patrick Tuttofuoco and Andrea Sala, along with writer-director Nic Bello and food designer Alessandra Pallotta. Specific has produced over fifteen projects including exhibitions, installations, and site-specific works. In 2026, the platform is consolidating its activities with a three-exhibition program curated by independent curator Davide Giannella. The inaugural exhibition, 'Incarnato,' is on view until April 3, featuring works by artists Beatrice Favaretto and Andrea Pozzato. The show explores themes of the body and corporeality through video, performance, and installation, with an immersive environment created by Specific using pink-toned drapery. Upcoming exhibitions include 'Paper/Midwestern Ocean' by architect Gianni Pettena during Milan Art Week and the group show 'Should I Stay or Should I Go?!' in September, examining mobility and permanence in contemporary art practices. Specific has also opened new ground-floor creative studios for artistic production and experimentation.
