BIG's Lego House Opens in Billund: A Ziggurat of 12 Million Bricks
The Lego House, designed by BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group), has opened in Billund, Denmark, a 20-minute walk from Legoland. The 12,000-square-meter building contains over 12 million ABS plastic bricks and is organized as a terraced ziggurat with color-coded experiential zones. Paid areas include a red zone for spontaneous creation, a green zone for character and story building, a blue zone for cognitive challenges, and a yellow zone for emotional expression. The top terrace features the 15-meter-tall Tree of Creativity, the largest Lego structure ever built, made of over six million bricks requiring 24,000 hours of work.
