Big Eyes Art Gallery Opens Inside Bologna Design Store

Big Eyes Art Gallery, a new contemporary art and pop culture space, has opened inside the historic Fabrica Features design concept store in central Bologna. Founded by curator Tiziana Sanzone, the gallery aims to make art accessible to a broader public by integrating it into a commercial setting. Two openings are scheduled: on March 6, a national and international preview of Dioscùri, a show of works by artist Pietro Sedda; on March 8, a solo exhibition titled Taboo by emerging artist Psychonoir. The gallery features pop surrealism, pop art, and contemporary figurative art through fine art prints, vinyl art toys, unique pieces, specialized publishing, and site-specific textile design. It has two rooms: one dedicated to pop and street art with multiples, art toys, ceramics, resin sculptures, a visual arts library, and original medium-to-large canvases by Italian and international artists; the other for major monographic shows focusing on new contemporary figurative art by international artists under 40. Sanzone, who holds a degree in art history and previously worked in Italian and French galleries, co-founded Fabrica Features with her partner Fabrizio Valentino. She was inspired to share her collection after realizing her home had become an informal exhibition space.
