Biennale Matter of Art 2026 Opening Weekend Program Announced

The fourth Biennale Matter of Art, titled 'Necessary Wishes,' is set to occur from June 12 to September 13, 2026, across three venues in the Czech Republic: the Trade Fair Palace of the National Gallery Prague, GAMPA – City Gallery Pardubice, and the Tusculum arts center. Kicking off with an Opening Weekend from June 11 to 14, attendees can enjoy free performances, workshops, book launches, and guided tours. More than thirty artists and collectives will participate, including six new projects. The opening ceremony on June 11 features performances by Nadia Markiewicz and Michal Durda, followed by an afterparty with Shella Radio. Other events include a lecture by Felipe Steinberg on June 12 and a collective reading on June 13, with a guided tour concluding the weekend. A free community space, A Tent, will also be available. The biennale is co-curated by Jaroslava Tomanová, Jakub Gawkowski, and František Fekete.
