festival-fair · 2026-04-22

In October 2026, the Biennale de l’Image en Mouvement (BIM) will launch in Tunis, marking its inaugural partnership with the Kamel Lazaar Foundation and coinciding with Jaou Tunis. A selection committee comprised of Lina Lazaar, Andrea Bellini, Mohamed Almusibli, Shumon Basar, Fatma Cheffi, Adam HajYahia, Xue Tan, and Eyal Weizman has chosen 16 artists, 13 of whom are women, showcasing significant representation from the Middle East and North Africa. Each artist will receive funding and an honorarium to produce new works that will debut in Tunis before touring Geneva and Venice. Since 2014, BIM has aimed to amplify diverse viewpoints and strengthen networks for Global Majority voices. Bellini notes this could be BIM’s most diverse cohort yet, while Lazaar highlights the biennale's role in enhancing local cultural skills and fostering lasting legacies. The collaboration seeks to honor a variety of voices and promote cultural connections across borders.
