Biennale College Arte: Call for Emerging Artists Under 30

institutional · 2026-04-27

The Venice Biennale has launched its first Biennale College Arte, a workshop for emerging artists under 30. The program, beginning in autumn 2021, will select 12 projects for a 10-day workshop in Venice in October 2021, coordinated by Cecilia Alemani, curator of the 59th International Art Exhibition. Up to 4 final projects will receive a maximum of €25,000 each for production and will be presented out of competition at the 2022 Biennale Arte, titled "The Milk of Dreams" after Leonora Carrington's book. The call is open until July 26, 2021, to artists worldwide who have not turned 31 by the deadline and have at least one group and one solo exhibition in recognized spaces. Biennale President Roberto Cicutto expressed enthusiasm, thanking Alemani for taking on the challenge. The initiative extends the Biennale College model—already active in Cinema, Dance, Theatre, Music, and Historical Archive—to the visual arts sector.
