Biennale Architettura 2025 Unveils Public Programme GENS with Workshops and Conferences
The Venice Architecture Biennale of 2025, under the direction of Carlo Ratti and themed "Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective," is set to commence on May 10, 2025, lasting for six months. The GENS public programme will host nearly weekly conferences, workshops, and meetings from May through November 2025 at venues such as Ca' Giustinian, Teatro Piccolo Arsenale, and a newly designed Speakers' Corner by Christopher Hawthorne, Johnston Marklee, and Florencia Rodriguez within the Corderie dell'Arsenale. This initiative builds on the "Space for Ideas" event from May to June 2024, focusing on interdisciplinary collaboration beyond architecture. Key topics include AI's influence on creativity, urban ecosystems, climate change, and housing issues, featuring contributions from various organizations, including C40 and the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy. A discussion on "Domicidio" will include insights from Luciano Violante, the former President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies. The inaugural conference on Baukultur will take place on May 10, while workshops will encompass discussions, film screenings, labs, performances, and the Restaging Criticism initiative, categorized into four areas: Modes and Platforms, Territories, Operative/Operation, and Emerging Voices.
