Biennale Architettura 2020 postponed to August, Australia withdraws

The Biennale di Venezia has updated its 2020 calendar due to the global health emergency. The 17th International Architecture Exhibition, originally scheduled for May 23, will now run from August 29 to November 29, accompanied by 15 collateral events. The 77th Venice International Film Festival is set for September 2–12. The 48th International Festival of Contemporary Music, directed by Ivan Fedele, will take place September 25–October 4. The 64th International Theatre Festival, directed by Antonio Latella, moves to September 14–24. The 14th International Festival of Contemporary Dance, directed by Marie Chouinard, is scheduled for October 13–25. No cancellations have been announced. The Australian Institute of Architects has withdrawn from the Architecture Biennale, citing health and economic concerns. Australia's pavilion was to host the exhibition "In | Between," curated by Tristan Wong and Jefa Greenaway. The Biennale's president Roberto Cicutto has opted for calendar adjustments rather than cancellations. The exhibition's theme, "How will we live together?" by curator Hashim Sarkis, gains new relevance amid the pandemic.
