Bicentennial of Canova's Temple, Keats's Creative Peak, and Prado's Founding
The year 2019 commemorates the 200th anniversary of the Tempio Canoviano in Possagno, a creation of Antonio Canova and architect Giannantonio Selva, with its construction commencing on July 11, 1819. Canova passed away in 1822 before the temple was finished. Festivities are scheduled from July 11, 2019, to October 13, 2022, with Vittorio Sgarbi managing the Gipsoteca and Museo Antonio Canova. In the same year, John Keats produced significant odes, including 'The Eve of St Agnes.' To honor this, T-yong Chung's exhibition launched at the Keats-Shelley House in Rome on February 28, 2019. Additionally, the Real Museo del Prado in Madrid opened its doors in 1819, featuring works by Spanish masters like Velázquez and Goya, with its bicentennial celebrations from November 19, 2018, to November 19, 2019.
