Biblioteca Braidense in Milan expands with new educational space and children's research center
The Biblioteca Nazionale Braidense, established in Milan in 1786, is preparing to reopen with fresh educational initiatives. Adjacent to the Sala Maria Teresa, a versatile area has been designed for workshops in typography, calcography, and bookbinding. The library houses the Archivio Storico Ricordi (founded in 1808), Cento Amici del libro (since 1939), and the Società Storica Lombarda. A significant project is the Centro Internazionale di Ricerca sulla Cultura dell'Infanzia (CIRCI), which was launched following the acquisition of the Adler Collection, comprising 257 Soviet children's books. This center aims to study and preserve childhood experiences, supported by an international advisory board that includes Jack Zipes, and will partner with Fondazione Reggio Children and La Petite Bibliothèque Ronde.
