Bianco-Valente's 'Ogni Dove' connects Armenian diaspora through collective art

exhibition · 2026-05-04

The Italian artist duo Bianco-Valente, composed of Giovanna Bianco and Pino Valente, launched 'Ogni Dove / ԱՄԵՆՈՒՐԵՔ', a participatory project in Yerevan, Armenia, curated by Isabella Indolfi and produced by the Italian Embassy in Armenia. The project, developed during a residency in Yerevan, invited Armenians worldwide to write 'Ogni Dove' on a white sheet and hang it from their balcony on September 4, 2019, symbolizing unity across borders. Participants also sent photos of their palms with the same inscription, which were turned into postcards. The work explores identity, diaspora, and the Armenian alphabet as a cultural glue. Bianco-Valente's practice often examines connections and public space; previous projects include 'FreiRaum Amsterdam' (2018) with urbanist Fabio Landolfo, where they created a flag from over 200 pieces of flags from migrant communities in the Netherlands. Upcoming projects include a public art intervention in Albania with students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Tirana, invited by Alessandra Bertini Malgarini of the Italian Institute of Culture. The duo's works, such as 'Misuro il tempo' (2019) and 'Towards you' (2015), consistently emphasize relational aesthetics and territorial bonds.
