Bianco-Valente's 'Misuro il tempo' Installation at Casamicciola Thermal Baths

The Italian artist duo Bianco-Valente has created 'Misuro il tempo', a site-specific installation on the facade of the Terme di Casamicciola on Ischia, owned by the Pio Monte di Misericordia of Naples. The building, an extraordinary architectural structure with significant historical and cultural memory, had been abandoned for decades due to a lengthy legal dispute. The installation, curated by Maria Savarese, is promoted and funded by the Pio Monte della Misericordia of Naples, with moral patronage from the Municipality of Casamicciola and matronage from the Fondazione Donnaregina per le arti contemporanee. It anticipates the restoration of the building, designed by architect Massimo Pica Ciamarra. Inspired by passages from Saint Augustine's 'Confessions' on the concept of time, the artists covered the building's facade with a black paper film to dilate perception and signs of time. The project includes a documentary by filmmaker Alessandro Capuano, featuring interviews with the artists, curator Maria Savarese, superintendent Alessandro Pasca di Magliano, architect Massimo Pica Ciamarra, and mayor Giovan Battista Castagna. The documentary will premiere in Naples and later be shown in various national museum venues. The installation runs from May 20 to July 28, 2019.
