Bianco-Valente on Perception and Their Permanent Work in Naples
Italian artist duo Bianco-Valente—Giovanna Bianco (born 1962 in Latronico) and Pino Valente (born 1967 in Naples)—have been collaborating since 1994, exploring the relationship between vision, perception, body, and mind through scientific and philosophical lenses. Their work takes an anthropological approach, engaging with territory, travel, and virtual exchanges with distant cultures. In a recent monologue, they compare constellations to neural processes underlying perception, stating that an artist's role is to make the invisible visible and reveal the subtle network connecting events, people, and places across time and space. On November 11, 2020, their permanent public artwork "Nessuno escluso" was inaugurated in Naples as part of the redevelopment of the coastal axis along Via Marina. The interview was conducted by Donatella Giordano for Artribune.
