Bianca Beck to Create Public Sculptures for TWU's 125th Anniversary
To celebrate its 125th anniversary, Texas Woman's University in Denton will unveil a significant public artwork by Bianca Beck, an artist from Portland, Maine. This commission concludes the Dream Big fundraising initiative, which successfully garnered $171 million for various programs, including scholarships, internships, and STEM studies. Beck's installation features three large, biomorphic fiberglass sculptures from her Body Double series, reflecting the campaign's ideals of innovation, opportunity, and perseverance. Inspired by the Platonic myth of the doubled body, the sculptures will be arranged on a hillside, allowing visitors to engage with them. Jaime Porter, TWU's Vice President for University Advancement, emphasized that the artwork captures the essence of growth and creativity. The unveiling is scheduled for Saturday, October 24.
