BIAN 2014: Digital Art Biennale Invades Montreal's MAC
The second Biennale Internationale d'Art Numérique (BIAN) de Montréal, led by Alain Thibault, took place at the Musée d'Art Contemporain (MAC) from May 1 to June 19, 2014. Highlights included works such as Sébastien Lacomblez's Landscape series (2014), LAb[au]'s Signal to noise (2012), Felix Luque Sanchez's Clones (2013), and Robyn Moody's Wave Interference (2012). Additionally, Samuel St Aubin presented mechanical devices at Maison de la Culture Marie-Uguay. Originating from the Elektra festival, the BIAN combined with Mutek for EM15. Performances featured Herman Kolgen's Seismik (2014) and Robert Henke's Lumière (2013). The event also included the Marché International de l'Art Numérique (MIAN) and looked forward to the inaugural BIAN Paris in 2015, promoting digital art's broader acceptance.
