bg Fine Art Exhibits Louise E. Marianetti's Early Magic Realist Paintings

This August, bg Fine Art is set to present an exhibition titled The Strange World of Louise E. Marianetti, featuring a selection of her paintings from the 1930s and 1940s. It offers a deep dive into Marianetti's distinct viewpoint within American Magic Realism. She graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1936 and further honed her skills at the Art Students League of New York under notable instructors William Palmer and Robert Brackman. During these formative years, she embraced egg tempera techniques, creating a style that combined meticulous observation with enigmatic elements. A New York Times critic remarked on her work in 1943, mentioning that it could be described as “in accord with the newly invented.”
