Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation in Venice Gets New Board, Announces 100th Young Artists Collective
The Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa in Venice has a new board of directors appointed by mayor Luigi Brugnaro, averting a feared closure. The trio consists of Bruno Bernardi, Valentina Farolfi, and Roberto Zamberlan. Bernardi, born 1950, is an associate professor at Ca' Foscari University and directs the Master in Creative Development and Cultural Heritage Management. Farolfi, 43, is a PR consultant in culture, publishing, and lifestyle. Zamberlan, born 1955, is a gallerist at Santo Stefano di Venezia and a promoter of young artist initiatives. The foundation also announced the 100th edition of its Collettiva Giovani Artisti open call, established in 1908 and interrupted only during world wars. Artists aged 18–35 domiciled or resident in the Triveneto area, or who earned a diploma or degree there in the last seven years, may submit up to two works in any technique on November 3–5 at Palazzetto Tito. The jury includes Lorenzo Benedetti, Luigi Fassi, Luca Lo Pinto, Chiara Parisi, and Francesco Stocchi. Selected works will be exhibited at the Galleria di Piazza San Marco from December 17 to January 15, 2017. Three winners will receive scholarships of €3,000 and two of €2,000, with work acquisition and a solo show the following year. A graphic design competition for the event's image offers a €1,000 prize.
