Betye Saar's Wearable Art and Other LA Shows in August
This August, galleries in Los Angeles are featuring personal exhibitions. At Roberts Projects, "Let's Get It On: The Wearable Art of Betye Saar" showcases more than 200 garments and designs from the 1950s to the 1970s, honoring Saar, who recently passed away at the age of 99. Lisson Gallery is hosting Spencer Finch's inaugural solo exhibition in LA, titled "Balboa of House and Garden," inspired by Emily Dickinson. "Being and Longing: Enough Is Never Enough" at Gene's Dispensary includes works by Kim Gordon and others. Lee Mullican's paintings from 1959-60 are on display at Marc Selwyn Fine Art, while James Fuentes Gallery features drawings by Susan Te Kahurangi King. Gallery Luisotti celebrates Taix with contributions from six artists, and the Central Library Rotunda showcases Daniel González's pop-up book, alongside "Textiles as Monument" at the Fowler Museum at UCLA.
