Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival Explores Fact and Fiction with New Director and Commissions
The Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival has launched under new director Peter Taylor, formerly of International Film Festival Rotterdam, with the theme Fact and Fiction. This edition features an expanded focus on new cinema and artists' moving image. Among the festival's new commissions are works by Paul Rooney, Seamus Harahan, Elise Florenty & Marcel Türkowsky, and CIRCA Projects. UK premieres include films by Ben Rivers, Renate Lorenz & Pauline Boudry, and Pacho Velez. Seamus Harahan and Deimantas Narkevičius are highlighted as artists in focus. Sunday's remaining screenings include Renate Lorenz & Pauline Boudry's short Opaque, 2014 in the Town Hall council chamber, Paul Rooney's festival commission Still at Large, 2015 in the Custom House, and Seamus Harahan's commission Fucking Finland, 2015 also in the Town Hall. The festival continues with these events available for viewing.
