Bertozzi e Casoni's 'Il capitale umano' at Galleria Antonio Verolino, Modena
The duo Giampaolo Bertozzi (Borgo Tossignano, 1957) and Stefano Casoni (Lugo di Romagna, 1961) present 'Il capitale umano tra consolazioni e desolazioni' at Galleria Antonio Verolino in Modena, curated by Franco Bertoni, until October 26, 2016. The exhibition reflects on human capital amid impending ecological disaster. The gallery, run by Antonio Verolino, merges the family's refined textile tradition with contemporary research. The artists create a design for a hand-woven silk carpet made in Nepal, featuring a skull as a memento mori, besieged by a beehive and framed in ceramic. They also reference Arcimboldo with fruit infested by cigarette packs and filth, and Manzoni with soiled cans. A notable new work is a caged, fierce polar bear struggling against imprisonment by multinational corporations, whose logos are printed on the metal cage.
