Bertozzi & Casoni's Anthropocene Ceramics at Galleria Civica di Trento
The duo Bertozzi & Casoni—Giampaolo Bertozzi (Borgo Tossignano, 1957) and Stefano Dal Monte Casoni (Lugo di Romagna, 1961)—present a solo exhibition at the Galleria Civica di Trento, exploring the Anthropocene through polychrome ceramic works. The show references ceramic pieces from the MART di Rovereto collections, particularly by Fausto Melotti and Lucio Fontana, as well as inspirations from Giorgio Morandi, Thomas Demand, Clegg & Guttmann, and Adalberto Libera. Among the fifty works on view are monumental pieces such as 'Polar bear,' 'Le cinque stagioni,' 'Pinocchio,' 'Ritratto (Mademoiselle Rivière),' and 'Terra!', alongside a series of mailboxes, '13 buche,' and a new work. The artists obsessively recreate animals, plants, flowers, and recovered trash in ceramic with astonishing skill, producing a perverse beauty that reflects biological destruction. The exhibition is described as a descent into the inferno of our current existence, with Bertozzi guiding visitors through a 'dignified decline.'
