Berlusconi family plans museum at Villa San Martino in Arcore

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-27

The family of Silvio Berlusconi plans to turn Villa San Martino in Arcore into a public museum dedicated to the former prime minister and businessman. The villa already houses his ashes in a mausoleum designed by artist Pietro Cascella. Two committees have been formed after a meeting between Berlusconi's relatives, notably Pier Silvio Berlusconi, and members of Forza Italia. A scientific committee will include historian Giordano Bruno Guerri, while an honorary committee will feature Gianni Letta and Fedele Confalonieri. These committees will operate under the Silvio Berlusconi Foundation, an expansion of the existing foundation dedicated to his father Luigi in via Senato, Milan. The museum will display Berlusconi's personal belongings, including his piano and over 20,000 paintings from the Quadreria. Audio recordings of his speeches and campaign songs like 'Azzurra libertà' and 'Meno Male che Silvio c'è' will accompany the exhibits. Other highlights include electoral videos, books, posters, and a reconstruction of the set from his 1994 'discesa in campo' video (originally filmed in Macherio). The museum will also feature the 'contract with Italians' signed with Bruno Vespa in 2001 and the film 'Il fiume della libertà' commissioned for Forza Italia's 20th anniversary. Initially visits will be by appointment, with potential regular hours later.
