Berlin's Museum of European Cultures Explores Tyrol's Alpine Identity and Climate Crisis

The Museum of European Cultures in Berlin-Dahlem is hosting "The Mountains of Tyrol," an exhibition running from July 29, 2026, to April 25, 2027, that examines the Austrian region of Tyrol beyond its stereotypical Alpine imagery. The show integrates historical objects, contemporary art, interviews, and interactive displays to present the Alps as a cultural, ecological, and social landscape shaped by centuries of farming, trade, transportation, tourism, and human settlement. Rather than portraying the mountains as pristine wilderness, the exhibition addresses the region's transformation and the pressing challenges of climate change. Accompanying the exhibition, the European Cultural Days: Tyrol will take place from July 26 to August 23, 2026, offering a month-long program of events.
