Berlin's Museum der Moderne by Herzog & de Meuron faces cost overrun to €450M
The Museum der Moderne in Berlin, designed by Herzog & de Meuron, will see its budget rise from €200 million to €450 million, as revealed by Culture Minister Monika Grütters. Situated at Potsdamer Platz, the museum will feature an underground tunnel linking it to the Neue Nationalgalerie and will showcase a 20th-century art collection with pieces from artists such as Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Pablo Picasso, and Andy Warhol. Part of Berlin's Kulturforum, which also includes the Berlin Philharmonie and the Berlin State Library, the museum will have a dedicated room for works donated by Gerhard Richter. The updated construction cost stands at €364.2 million, with an additional €52.2 million for increases and €33.8 million for risk management, with an expected opening in 2026.
