Berlin's Kraftwerk hosts 30-hour immersive music sleepover

festival-fair · 2026-05-25

The Infinite Now, a 30-hour immersive music event, took place at Kraftwerk Berlin, a former power plant housing the techno club Tresor. Organized by Berlin Atonal and Unsound festivals, it featured experimental artists Jim O'Rourke, Kali Malone, Caterina Barbieri, and Marginal Consort. Around 500 beds were placed in the turbine hall, encouraging attendees to sleep, rest, and listen. The program included beatless, texture-based music, art installations, an internet café, a gift shop, and a canteen. Organizers Harry Glass and Laurens von Oswald, who have run Atonal since 2013, described it as a social experiment. Out of over 1,000 attendees, nearly half slept over. The event aimed to create space for deep listening in an era of shrinking attention spans.
