Berlin's Gallery Weekend 2016: Five Exhibitions Featuring Nicolai, Buren, Wallinger, Comte, and Tillmans

Berlin's gallery scene presents five distinct exhibitions during April and May 2016. Carsten Nicolai's minimalist installation 'Reflektor Distortion' at Eigen + Art explores perception through water, light, sound, and vibration until 28 May. At Buchmann Galerie from 29 April to 16 July, Daniel Buren's early stripe paintings from 1966–1969 appear alongside Bettina Pousttchi's ceramic works referencing blackened oak beams. Carlier Gebauer hosts Mark Wallinger's Rorschach-style self-portraits, following their London debut at Hauser & Wirth, alongside Iman Issa's 'Heritage Studies' sculptures and texts from 30 April to 28 May. Claudia Comte's geometric and wooden forms are installed at König Galerie | St Agnes, a former Catholic church, from 29 April to 29 May. Wolfgang Tillmans exhibits studio-focused work at Galerie Bucholz from 29 April to 4 June, while converting his Between Bridges Berlin space into 'Meeting Space' for community discussions on migration, the EU, and right-wing politics, with event details available online.
