Berlin Gallery Weekend Returns with 47 Galleries and Museum Collaborations
The Gallery Weekend Berlin returns from April 28 to 30, 2017, featuring 47 private galleries and public institutions in simultaneous openings and late-night events. Originating in 2004 from a private initiative by Berlin galleries, the event has grown into one of Germany's leading contemporary art gatherings, attracting visitors from across the country and abroad. Notable exhibitions include Olaf Nicolai at Eigen+Art, Thomas Schütte at Carlier Gebauer, Roni Horn at Michael Fuchs, Candice Breitz's 'Love Story' installation at KOW, Dara Friedman at Supportico Lopez, and Ian Kiaer at Barbara Wien. Public institutions also participate: KW Institute for Contemporary Art presents Anthony McCall's 1973 work 'Line Describing a Cone,' Museum Frieder Burda hosts a Sigmar Polke retrospective, Berlinische Galerie features dual solo shows by John Bock and Christine Streuli, and Museum Berggruen mounts a Picasso exhibition. The event runs Friday 6-9 PM, Saturday and Sunday 11 AM-7 PM.
