Berlin Gallery Weekend 2022 showcases soothing art amid global tensions

The Berlin Gallery Weekend took place from April 29 to May 1, 2022, showcasing 52 official galleries and alternative spaces, right after the Venice Biennale. At Deutsche Bank's Palais Populaire, guests enjoyed Aperol spritzes while attending Opera Opera. Galerie Buchholz presented Trisha Donnelly's photography alongside early works by Martin Wong. Esther Schipper featured videos by David Claerbout, and Konrad Fischer introduced Bruce Nauman's Practice (2021). Haegue Yang's work was displayed at Barbara Wien, and Thomas Struth unveiled new photographs at Max Hetzler. Neugerriemschneider inaugurated a new venue with Thomas Bayrle's pieces. Joan Jonas's Draw on the Wind (2018) was showcased at Heidi, while Nina Canell's Muscle Memory (2022) included seashells at Berlinische Galerie. Neuenationalgalerie launched a Barbara Kruger exhibition and hosted Maria Kulikovska's performance, which referenced her arrest in 2014.
