Berlin Exhibition Explores War and Repression Through Art

exhibition · 2026-05-03

Starting soon, Berlin's Schinkel Pavillon and Brücke-Museum will host a new exhibition titled 'The Assault of the Present on the Rest of the Time: Artistic Testimonies of War and Repression,' curated by Katya Inozemtseva. The exhibit draws inspiration from a film by Alexander Kluge and examines the interplay of time and conflict. The Schinkel Pavillon, notable for pioneering contemporary Expressionist art in 1919, lost several works during the Nazi regime. Established in 1967, the Brücke-Museum honors the Die Brücke movement and features the contributions of 25 artists, including notable figures like Etel Adnan and Käthe Kollwitz, highlighting themes of suffering.
