festival-fair · 2026-05-04

Berlin Art Week 2017 commenced with the redesigned Art Berlin fair, now in partnership with Art Cologne, alongside the satellite events Positions and Berlin Liste. The week includes global exhibitions, such as Monica Bonvicini's solo display at Berlinische Galerie, which examines 'facade' through architectural influences from Berlin and Istanbul. A retrospective of filmmaker Harun Farocki, who passed away in 2014, is featured at the Neue Berliner Kunstverein, highlighting his archive-driven works. Historical interviews will be screened at Kino Arsenal through November. Alfredo Jaar's facade project at n.b.k. honors Berlin's intellectuals. KW Institute for Contemporary Art showcases 'Whiteout' by Willem de Rooij, while Olafur Eliasson’s 'Festival of Future Nows' at Hamburger Bahnhof is available until September 17. The Akademie der Künste presents over 50 films by Danièle Huillet and Jean-Marie Straub.
