Bergen Assembly 2022: Yasmine's Quest Explores Authorship Through Character-Driven Exhibitions

The 2022 Bergen Assembly exhibition 'Yasmine and the seven faces of the Heptahedron' presents a fictional quest narrative across multiple Bergen venues through November 6. Artist Saâdane Afif serves as convenor while crediting a fabricated curator named Yasmine d'O, referencing Yasmine d'Ouezzan, the first French female carom billiards champion. Seven characters from Thomas Clerc's play structure focused three-artist exhibitions at different locations. At the University of Bergen KMD building, The Professor hosts Gruppo Petrolio's film project led by Lili Reynaud-Dewar, exploring Pier Paolo Pasolini's death alongside works including George Grosz's Self-Portrait as Warner (1927) and student self-portraits. Bryggens Museum presents The Moped Rider with Shirin Sabahi's Mouthful (2018) about oil sculpture restoration and Katia Kameli's Stream of Stories (2016–22) tracking fable migrations. Denicolai & Provoost display borrowed objects from Bergen wanderings. Sol Calero's permanent restaurant installation La Cantina de la Touriste (2022) at an elderly care home explores tropical symbolism through migrant education collaboration.
