Bergamo's 'I Monasteri d’inverno' Returns with Theatre, Installations, and Family Events

The 'I Monasteri d’inverno' festival returns to Bergamo's Città Alta, running from early December through January 2026. The event transforms the historic monasteries of Sant’Agata and del Carmine into a cultural hub featuring theatre, installations, and convivial activities. Organized by Cooperativa Città Alta and Teatro Tascabile di Bergamo, the program includes three main strands. At Monastero del Carmine, 'Luna Park delle Meraviglie' (until 11 January 2026) by Antonio Catalano and Teatro Tascabile offers an explorable environment of poetic installations, hand-operated carousels, and natural materials, alongside theatre shows, workshops, library events, and school openings. At Monastero di Sant’Agata and Teatro Renzo Vescovi, the fifth edition of 'Il teatro è servito' (until 25 January 2026) presents performances for children and youth spanning contemporary circus, dance, physical theatre, and clowning, with national and international reach. Teatro Tascabile also stages its own productions and launches a permanent children's workshop. Connecting the two monasteries, 'Il Giardino di Natale del Circolino' (until 6 January 2026) offers markets, street food, concerts, shows, and family activities, including a Santa's mailbox and a Tree of Wishes, blending festivity with solidarity through local associations.
